  13. What is FCLI?
  14.  
  15. • FCLI is a small program for FirstClass sysops. Just drag and drop a group 
  16. of statistics files on its  icon, and it will create a BBEdit TEXT file containing 
  17. different informations for each user, in a more human-readable form than the
  18. statistics files themselves.
  19. A small example is shown below for the user ID Schultz.

  66. busy. This can help you deciding if your server needs another modem.

  85. a modem connection speed or client version number not always identical.

  176. • FCLI needs these records in the statistics file

  209.    !!! IMPORTANT !!!    FCLI needs the "," delimiter. It does not work otherwise.

  216. • The output file looks good when using Monaco 9 Font. Don't even try using
  217. Geneva, Helvetica or whatever. The result is unreadable.
  218. I personally use ProFont. It's a font included in the CodeWarrior CD. It's a
  219. modified version of Monaco, even more readable.

  222. • The output file is likely to be bigger that 32K. SimpleText won't be able to 
  223. open it. You'll have to use another program, capable of reading a text file of 
  224. more that 32K. BBEdit is a nice text editor, the best I think. Many features 
  225. (Extensions, Grep search...) will be very useful to you.

  228. • You can use the grep search of BBEdit in order to switch quickly to the next 
  229. user: search for

  232. Then, with command-g, you can go through the list very quickly.

  235. • If you download the stat file from the server to your computer when the FC
  236. server is actually writing in it, you finally get a "corrupted" file, in the sense that
  237. the last line of the file may not end correctly. This may cause some minor problems
  238. to FCLI. Deleting the last or first line resolves the problem.

  240.  
  241. • The Busy Periods algorithm cannot work properly in one case: when someone
  242. is connected to the server during the Trash Collection. SoftArc designed the log
  243. events syntax in a way that it's impossible to do it easily. This case is quite rare, 
  244. anyway.

  247. • If you regularly download the stat files from the server to your computer, be careful
  248. when you drop multiple files on FCLI. If you try to concatenate the file you downloaded
  249. yesterday with today's file, you will notice some strange things in the Busy List, for example.
